Junior Show will check in 9/11 by 6PM and Show 9/12 starting at 8AM inside the climate controlled Four States Fair Entertainment Center!! All entries must be made online

Department 1 Junior Beef Cattle Division September 11-12, 2020 ENTRIES IN THIS DEPARTMENT OPEN ONLY TO 4-H & FFA Show Committee Co-Chairs: Cherrie Curtis, Shane Plyler

This is a BLOW & GO Show – NO Grooming products or clipping on the grounds. Please read the rules thoroughly and carefully as several rules have changed.

Arrival: Friday, Sept. 11th must be check in and in place by 6:00PM WE WILL RUN TWO SHOW RINGS FOR THE JUNIOR SHOW ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH. IF YOU ARE NOT READY WHEN YOUR CLASS IS CALLED YOU WILL BE SCRATCHED!

Ring 1: Long-haired heifers at 8AM Registered Long-Haired breeds, ALL Commercial Heifers. Ring 2: Short-haired heifers at 8AM, Registered Short-Haired breeds, ALL STEERS. ALL PREMIUMS WILL BE PAID AT THE SHOW. PREMIUMS MUST BE PICKED UP PRIOR TO LEAVING THE GROUNDS ON SEPTEMBER 12TH ANY PREMIUMS NOT PICKED UP WILL BE FORFEITED.

Release: Due to COVID-19 Regulations and Requirements we will be releasing breeds following the conclusion of each breed. RELEASE WILL ONLY TAKE PLACE UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE LIVESTOCK DIRECTOR!

YOU MUST PICK UP YOUR PREMIUM PRIOR TO THE CONCLUSION OF THE SHOW. LAST BREED SHOWN WILL HAVE ONE HOUR TO PICK UP THEIR PREMIUMS.

JUNIOR BEEF CATTLE EXHIBIT RULES (See Exhibitors General Rules & Regulations) Time is short between entry and the show – we appreciate your following the rules by completing the online entry information to help us be better prepared for the show.

RULE 1. ELIGIBILITY: Participation in the Junior Beef Cattle Division is limited to members in good standing with their 4-H Club or FFA Chapter. Exhibitors must be enrolled in, and attending, public or private elementary or secondary school. Students must be between 3rd grade and their 1st semester of college in the fall. ALL ANIMALS MUST BE OWNED 30 DAYS PRIOR TO OPENING DAY (AUGUST 12TH) OF THE SHOW

RULE 2. OWNERSHIP OF ANIMALS: To be eligible for competition, animals must be the sole property of the exhibitor. All animals entered for competition in the breeding classes must be entered in the name of the owner and must have been owned by the exhibitor not less than thirty days prior to the show day (August 12th).

RULE 3. ENTRY DEADLINE: ALL JUNIOR BEEF CATTLE ENTRIES WILL CLOSE AUGUST 21, 2020 ALL ENTRIES MUST BE MADE & PAID ONLINE at www.fourstatesfair.com. YOU MUST BRING YOUR COMPUTER RECEIPT WITH YOUR QR CODE TO CHECK IN. In all cases, the Four States Fair reserves the right to accept or reject an application for entry.

RULE 4. ENTRY FEES/FORMS: An entry fee of $25 per head must be paid online at time of registration. ALL entries must be made as a club through AG Science Teacher or County Extension agents. The exhibitor and animal information must be complete! Stall assignments will be made upon the closing of the entries, summaries NOT received by August 21, 2020 will be considered incomplete. Late entries will NOT be accepted. Substitutions will be accepted at $15 fee per head through check-in. ENTRY FEES ARE NON REFUNDABLE. NO TIE OUTS. GENERATORS ARE ALLOWED OUTSIDE THE BARN ONLY!!

RULE 5. JUNIOR & OPEN ENTRIES: Stall assignments are made according to entries received by August 21st for the Junior AND Open shows. Open Show Cattle entries are not allowed in the stall spaces during the Junior Cattle Show. And Junior Cattle Entries not entered in the Open Show may not have stall space during the Open Show. We work hard to accommodate each stalling request, If an animal is NOT entered in the Open Show, they will have to leave the barn – there may not be space for them in your stall area for the Open Show. Please respect stall assignments for each show. We work very hard to accommodate your entries and requests, but space is limited.

RULE 6. HEALTH CERTIFICATES: All animals will be required to have a current health certificate issued by license veterinarian that conforms to the requirements of Arkansas Animal Health Commission. All females 20 months & older must be accompanied by a certificate of pregnancy from a licensed veterinarian, have produced fertile eggs, as certified in a written statement by a licensed veterinarian or embryologist, or have a calf at her side. Health papers will be checked at the livestock gate upon entry.

RULE 7. Exhibitor must be able to have full control of animal or risk disqualification.

RULE 8. FORFEITURE OF PREMIUMS: Any violation of these rules will cost a forfeiture of all premiums earned by the exhibitor. In the interest of improving the Junior Show, the Four States Fair requests that the County Agents, Ag. Science teachers certify as to the eligibility of both the exhibitor and the animal entered by the exhibitor in the Four States Fair Junior Show.

RULE 9. ALL PROTESTS: shall be made to the Livestock Director in WRITING and immediately following the conclusion of judging. Such protests MUST state plainly the cause of the complaint and be accompanied by $100 deposit. IF the complaint is found in your favor, your deposit will be returned. Judging procedures will not be interrupted for protest investigation. Decisions of the Livestock Show Committee are final, pending a complete investigation.

RULE 10. THIS IS A BLOW AND GO SHOW! There will be NO Pumping or artificial filling, No grooming chutes, trimming stalls, No grooming products or corded clippers allowed on the show grounds during the Junior Show. The show grounds consist of the entire area encircled in the fence area of the Four States Fairgrounds. Scissors and cordless clippers may be used. No custom fitters/fitting will be allowed. Exhibitors may be assisted by Ag Science Teachers or County Extension Agent or their immediate family (parents, grandparents or siblings)

RULE 12. BREEDS: In all registered breeds there must be 5 or more heifers to constitute a breed. When less than 5 heifers are entered, they will show in other breeds. When 5 or more heifers of a breed not listed below are entered, that breed section will be added. Breed breakdown may be changed or modified at the discretion of the Four States Fair Staff and Show Committee. F-1 is eligible to compete in commercial class. Commercial heifers and steers will be classified by weight at the time of check in. MUST list breed type for ORB Heifers at the time of entry. ORB Heifers will be broken down by breed type. No pending registrations. Commercial Heifers are unregistrable – not registered heifers without papers.BREEDS: Angus Charolais Maintainer Simmental Beefmaster Chianina Red Angus Simm Solution Braford Hereford Santa Gertrudis Commercial Heifers Brahman Limousin Shorthorn Other Registered Breeds Brangus Maine-Anjou Simbrah l

RULE 14. ARRIVAL & RELEASE: All entries in the Junior Beef Cattle Division must be in place in the barn by 6PM. Friday, September 11th unless otherwise approved by the Livestock Director. Animals will be released following each breed show at the decision of the Livestock Director. Anyone leaving before this time will forfeit all premiums. Animals not checked-in by 6 PM – September 11th will be scratched.

RULE 15. Shavings will be available for a fee. Stall area MUST be cleaned before release. All hay and manure must be disposed of in the dumpsters at rear of barn. PLEASE PLACE YOUR WASTE PRODUCTS TO THE FRONT OF THE DUMPSTER. DO NOT PLACE MANURE IN THE BLUE TRASH BARRELS. NO SMOKING IN LIVESTOCK BARN BY ORDER OF THE TEXARKANA FIRE MARSHALL.

Please note classes may be added or modified at the discretion of the FSF Staff or Show Committee.

RULE 16. CLASSES: HEIFERS: CLASS 01 – Junior heifers born after March 1, 2020 CLASS 02 – Junior heifers born between January 1 and February 28, 2020 CLASS 03 – Winter heifers born between November 1 and December 31, 2019 CLASS 04 – Senior heifers born between September 1 and October 31, 2019 CLASS 05 – Late Summer Yearling heifers born between July 1 and August 29, 2019 CLASS 06 – Early Summer Yearling heifers born between May 1 and June 30, 2019 CLASS 07 – Late Junior Yearling heifers born between March 1 and April 30, 2019 CLASS 08 – Early Junior Yearling heifers born between January 1 and February 28, 2019 CLASS 09 – Sr. Yearling heifers born between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018 CLASS 10 – Cow/Calf / Bred Heifer 3/1/2018 to 8/31/2018 CLASS 11- Champion female CLASS 12- Reserve Champion female

Please note that due to COVID-19 and Social Distancing Regulations and Requirements we will not hold our Showmanship Competitions or our Herdsman Award Competition for 2020.

BUCKLE CERTIFICATES WILL BE AWARDED TO BREED CHAMPIONS. THERE MUST BE 3 OR MORE IN CHAMPION DRIVE FOR BUCKLES TO BE AWARDED.
